As a refurbishing business, we transform a lot of different pieces to put out in our show rooms! We are excited to be able to share the process and before-and-after pictures with you in case any one is interested in recreating any pieces or wants inspiration for their own projects!
Process from owner, Breana:
First, I hand sanded down the “glossy” finish on the original style telephone table (gossip bench), then I cleaned the bench to make sure there is no dust, etc. This will ensure a smooth finish on the furniture. I used my folk art paint & did a light first coat. Then I waited two hours and then sanded down the bench lightly to smooth out the paint. Then I completed the second coat, which I do much thicker than the first coat. I repeated this two more times (4, in total) since the color I chose is white and it needs one more coat than other colors. I always wait two hours in between coats, sand in between & wipe off the dust (caused from sanding). After this process, I examined the bench to make sure I didn’t miss anything or it didn’t need any touch ups. Then I used my clear wax to seal the furniture, you must let this dry over night. The next morning, I went in and buffed the bench to get that smooth finish.
We hope that you found this before and after helpful in any projects you have! Check back for more posts like this!
